North Shore Run with Twin Cities Ferrari

DULUTH, MN — Over the course of three days — from Friday, June 26th through Sunday, June 28th — the Ferrari North Shore Rally transformed the landscapes of northern Minnesota into one of the most unforgettable automotive experiences the region has ever seen. Presented by Altera Signature Group and Ferrari of Twin Cities, the multi-day convoy wound its way across Minnesota's most iconic terrain before arriving at its final destination on the Duluth waterfront for a community showcase that stopped the city in its tracks.

What set this rally apart from the very beginning was the route itself. Rather than confining the experience to the Twin Cities metro or the well-travelled highway corridors of the upper Midwest, Altera Signature Group and GForce Rally made a deliberate choice — to take the convoy north. Deep north. All the way to Ely, Minnesota, where the team coordinated directly with the city to close down an entire street and host a full-scale car show in the heart of one of Minnesota's most beloved and remote communities. It was the kind of moment that doesn't happen in Ely. Until it did.

“I grew up in Duluth & have driven up hundreds of times up here but I never knew these incredible driving roads existed” said Bruce, one of the Drivers on the rally.

For a city that sits at the edge of the Boundary Waters and doesn't often find itself at the centre of a national-calibre automotive event, the Ely stop was more than a photo opportunity. It was a statement — that world-class experiences belong everywhere, that the people of northern Minnesota deserve a front-row seat just as much as anyone else, and that the best drives in the country don't follow the most obvious roads. The reception from the Ely community was immediate and overwhelming.

From Ely, the convoy wound its way south through the forests and along the breath-taking cliffs of Minnesota's North Shore, arriving in Duluth on Saturday, June 27th for an evening community showcase at Canal Park — the first of two days the fleet spent in the city. The energy on the waterfront that Saturday evening set the tone for what was to come. The rally made its grand finale stop alongside the iconic William A. Irvin at Canal Park, where approximately 30 Ferrari’s — representing an estimated $18 million in some of the world's most coveted automobiles — were put on full display for the public one final time. What came out to meet them was something neither the drivers nor the organizers could have scripted: an estimated 2,700 people — families with young children, lifelong car enthusiasts, out-of-town visitors, and longtime Duluth residents who simply heard that something extraordinary was happening in their city and came to see it for themselves.

Children climbed into driver's seats for the first time. Adults stood in quiet awe next to machines they had only ever seen in photographs. Conversations happened between strangers over the hoods of cars. There were tears — from kids overwhelmed by the moment, and more than a few adults who weren't expecting to feel what they felt standing next to a $500,000 automobile on a warm June afternoon on the shores of Lake Superior. The energy on that waterfront was not what most people associate with the world of exotic cars. It wasn't exclusive or intimidating. It was open. It was generous. It was, at its core, exactly what Altera Signature Group built this rally to be.

"This is everybody's dream," said Joseph Fabiano, General Manager of Twin Cities Performance Ferrari. "Even as grown adults — these are our childhood dreams. To see little kids light up, and a simple gesture of 'hey, you want to sit in the car?' — I have seen a couple kids cry. It was beautiful."

The DECC's Communications Director, Lucie Amundsen, echoed the sentiment: "These 30 cars are going to be about $10 million of vehicles just hanging out there. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event. I don't know when this will ever happen again."

The Ferrari North Shore Rally is an invite-only driving experience produced by Altera Signature Group in partnership with Ferrari of Twin Cities, bringing together the most passionate Ferrari owners and enthusiasts in the Midwest for a fully curated multi-day convoy across Minnesota's most iconic landscapes. What began as a private driving event became something much larger — a reminder that the most powerful thing a community experience can do is show up somewhere unexpected, open the doors, and let people in.
